Born and raised in the Toronto area, Eugenia Last attended Alma College in St. Thomas (Ont.), Institute of Astrological Studies and Humber College. Being reared by Romanian/Ukrainian family who had a strong belief in astrology made this art particularly easy for her. Last began forming a client base during her second year of college and started to write for local newspapers in 1979. Greater recognition followed. By the mid-1980s, Last had her own radio show and was a featured guest on numerous radio and television shows. By the late 80s, she published her own book. Last's syndicated column, The Last Word in Astrology, has been distributed by Universal Press Syndicate since 1997. It runs in nearly 300 newspapers worldwide. In addition, since 1992, she has written yearly books offering the only day-by-day horoscope guide for each of the signs, as well as a practical guide to astrology, based on her philosophy. "For years now, astrology has been misinterpreted, misunderstood and misused by being associated with psychics and the occult," says Last. "Astrology is first of all a mathematical science and secondly an interpretive art. I am conclusively trying to teach people that astrology is not a predictive subject but one that deals with self-awareness, personal insight, growth and timing. I want to bring my subject to you in an educational, entertaining and motivating manner." Last believes that the ancient art of astrology can be considered the modern art of timing. Often considered fortunetelling, astrology is rather a tool that can be used to help an individual to do the right thing at the right time. Last has the top astrological Web site in the world. She launched her www.astroadvice.com site in English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, simplified Chinese and Japanese and has recently taken over the astrological portion of Web TV. She has made a vast number of media appearances and is currently developing her own television show. DEAR EUGENIA: The last two years, I've experienced health and work issues. The same company has employed me for a number of years. I had to take sick leave last October because of failing health. I recently returned to work and still have some health issues to deal with. I can't get enough hours to sustain my family and was hoping you could shed some light. I was born Jan. 11, 1957 at 5:00 p.m. I have a son born Sept. 30, 1990 at 12:10 a.m. whom I cannot motivate to find work or anything else. Our relationship is strained. What's up with him? I appreciate any help you can offer. -- FRUSTRATED CAPRICORN WITH AN UNMOTIVATED LIBRA DEAR FRUSTRATED CAPRICORN: Your health appears to be under control but more problems can be expected late September until mid-December and February until late August next year. Your chart signifies that you are prone to poor diagnoses and must get several opinions. Between June and September, there appears to be an opportunity to freelance, allowing you to make extra cash. Your home environment will be less stressful as the year comes to a close. Trying to be and do everything for everyone is the problem. It's time to put the onus elsewhere. As for your son, if you refuse to put demands on him, you won't get anywhere. He needs a shove and, by that I mean -- get a job and help out or get out. His chart indicates that he should be going back to school come fall. He is not being practical about what he can and cannot do. Unfortunately, he is conceited and is taking advantage of you. He is smart and capable and can make money. He should study business if he doesn't know what else to take, so that he has the mindset to run his own business in the future. Stop mothering him and let him grow up. DEAR EUGENIA: I was born March 7, 1960 at 5:50 p.m. and am having relationship issues. I have been with my current boyfriend for a little over a year. He has been going through a rough time personally and professionally the past year. I have stood by him because I really thought he was "the one." Now things are better for him but I have hit a rough patch and feel he is pulling away. His birthday is Nov. 28, 1960. Do you think this is just a rough patch for us or is it the giant red flag? I have a feeling that even if we are through for the time being, we are not finished forever. What do you think? -- PISCES DEAR PISCES: You have a good astrological comparison but you are going through troubled times. Your chart indicates depression and overreacting on your part. He, on the other hand, is confused and feeling akin to someone he met last year. Don't push this man away or hold him too tight. He falls in an area of your chart that deals with home, family and stability. Whether he realizes it or not, it is apparent that he needs a bit of freedom to figure out what he wants. Your chart indicates uncertainty that is likely to lead to separation. If you give him space now, it isn't likely that he will go far and the chance of his matching up to anyone as well as he does to you is a small possibility. You are right when you say you aren't finished with one another yet. However, I believe if you set him free now, he is likely to come back between August and November, for good. If you try to hang on to him, he may be lost forever or continually come and go out of your life. DEAR EUGENIA: I've been broken-hearted and financially strapped over the past year. I was born July 29, 1965 at 11:30 a.m. I'm wondering if things are going to change soon, and what sign is the best match for me? -- LONELY LEO DEAR LONELY LEO: Love awaits you, my friend, but not until early next year. Between now and then, you must get involved in organizations and activities that are conducive to socializing. You match up well to those born under the signs Aries, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius. It is apparent that someone you have worked for in the past can help you get a better position now. Start networking and sending out your resume or pick up added skills this year and you will begin to see greater prosperity over the next two years. COPYRIGHT 2009 UNIVERSAL PRESS SYNDICATE |
