uComics.com is "the best comics site in the universe!"

Hey, it's a tagline. It's also our opinion, and this is our release.

(Jan. 5, 2001 — Kansas City, Mo.) Humor professionals (and there are such people) often report that children laugh 300-400 times a day, while adults only laugh about 15 times daily.

The adults at uclick don’t like those numbers. So they’re doing something about it:

uclick, the largest packager and distributor of branded comics and word games on the Web, is proud to announce the successful liftoff of uComics.com, modestly known as the best comics site in the universe!

"With uComics.com, we can deliver full-color comics and games directly to your e-mail box seven days a week," says Harry Campbell, CEO and president of uclick. "And that’s just the start. When you go to the site, you’ll find all kinds of animated features and interactive entertainment. uComics.com is the future of funny. It’s the place to go for branded humor and games on the Web."

Campbell says the uComics.com network features the names people know and want, such as Garfield, Doonesbury, Cathy and FoxTrot. On the other hand, Campbell says uComics.com also will feature names people don’t know, but will want.

"We’ll be cultivating up-and-coming cartoonists," Campbell says. "The Web is the perfect venue for developing the next generation of comic satirists. The uComics.com network will be an incubator hatching humor for years."

Fans who register at uComics.com can request that their favorite comics be e-mailed directly to them each day. They also can e-mail strips to friends, buy comics-related merchandise and even look through the archives for old "friends," like Calvin and Hobbes.

In addition to the strips, uComics.com offers editorials, games and other diversions. (Believe the warnings on the site: Poker Solitaire is addictive.) Campbell, who’s admittedly prejudiced but also a savvy businessman, says the combination will be impossible to beat.
